The Biological and Toxin Weapons Convention’s conference report on the implications of advances in science and technology has been published ahead of the 8th Review Conference, which is to be convened in December 2016. This work was led by The Royal Society, in partnership with the US National Academy of Sciences and Polish Academy of Sciences, for the InterAcademy Partnership (IAP) Biosecurity Working Group to assist the State Parties in preparation for the Review Conference. The report addresses the need to expedite the peaceful applications of new knowledge and techniques, while making sure that they do not facilitate breaches of the treaty. The report has also recently been made available in Arabic in partnership with MESIS.
