ROSATOM:Effective Cooling Methods for Jordan’s First Nuclear Plant

Jordanian and Russian experts said they continue to work to ensure that Jordan’s first nuclear power plant will be equipped with necessary precautions in the event of an accident.  On July 3, the Russian State Atomic Energy Corporation (ROSATOM) stated that a safe shutdown of the plant is of ultimate importance and that the site of the plant itself will hold enough water to remove all decay heat in the event of an emergency.  High-temperature cooling water is effective when used in tandem with the modern turbine construction Russia intends to install, and there are also plans to divert water from the As-Samra wastewater plant, located 70km from site.
