JAEC Chairman Discusses Jordan’s Nuclear Program

In a recent interview with the Jordanian Al Ghad newspaper, Dr. Khaled Toukan, Chairman of the Jordan Atomic Energy Commission (JAEC), discussed the country’s nuclear power program. He stated that JAEC, in cooperation with the Jordan Nuclear Power Company (JNPC), would explore the prospects for Small Modular Reactors (SMRs) over the coming decade. This expression of interest for SMRs with a production capacity of 100-400 MW is based on their ability to more easily integrate into the national electricity grid during the second phase of the project for nuclear power generation.
