Iran Launches Missiles at ISIS Targets

On June 18th, 2017, the Iranian Revolutionary Guards launched six surface-to-surface missiles at Syria's  eastern Deir Ez-Zor area, targeting ISIS command centers, logistic sites and suicide car bomb factories. Iran officials have stated that these strikes were in response to an affiliate of the Islamic State's deadly attack on Iran's parliament on June 7th.  The Revolutionary Guard has been fighting ISIS in Syria, but this is the first time that  strikes of this kind have been conducted from Iranian territory. This was also the first Iranian missile launch into a foreign nation, since the Iran-Iraq War ended in 1988.
