Rolls-Royce to Conduct SMR Feasibility Study in Jordan

The Jordan Atomic Energy Commission (JAEC) and Rolls-Royce concluded a Memorandum of Understanding for Rolls-Royce to conduct a feasibility study for the construction of a Small-Modular Reactor (SMR) in Jordan. The MOU signed on November 9, 2017 will allow both organizations to work together to define the technical, safety, economic and financial requirements for constructing a Rolls-Royce SMR power station in Jordan for electricity generation and water desalination. The benefits of advanced SMRs include their relatively small size, the reduced capital investment requirement, and the ability to be sited in locations not possible for larger nuclear plants.
