EMRC Licenses Jordan Research and Training Reactor

On November 13, 2017, Jordan’s Energy and Minerals Regulatory Commission (EMRC) issued a license for the activation of the Jordan Nuclear Research and Training Reactor (JRTR). JRTR, which is owned and operated by the Jordan Atomic Energy Commission (JAEC), is located on the campus of the Jordan University of Science and Technology, and has a capacity of 5 MW. Construction for JRTR commenced in 2010 and was completed in 2016; the reactor will be used for research, development, education, training and the production of medical and industrial radioisotopes.
