Enhanced Security Cooperation between Jordan, Iraq

On August 5, Iraq and Jordan signed a joint agreement on counterterrorism, border protection, and intelligence capacity building. This took place during a meeting between Iraqi Defense Minister Irfan Hayali and Jordanian Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Mahmoud Freihat. Under the agreement, Iraq and Jordan will share information and expertise on joint military exercises, combating terrorism, improving intelligence capabilities, and research and technology development, among other areas.
