The Co-operative Agreement for Arab States in Asia for Research, Development and Training related to Nuclear Science and Technology (ARASIA) held its Board of Representatives Meeting in Amman, Jordan, from April 11-14 at the Middle East Scientific Institute for Security (MESIS). The meeting discussed future programmatic efforts and their potential to provide a sustainable impact among Arab states, as well as the necessary measures for an effective and efficient implementation of ARASIA’s Technical Cooperation Program.

The Jordanian and Russian nuclear regulatory agencies, The Energy and Minerals Regulatory Commission, and Rostechnadzor, respectively, signed a five-year agreement on April 6 to cooperate in the fields of nuclear and radiation safety regulation. The agreement will allow them to exchange insights in licensing, oversight, and control activities, as well as to exchange experience in the safe storage and transport of spent nuclear fuel and radioactive wastes.

The first Inter-Arab Nuclear Detection and Response tabletop exercise, "Falcon," commenced on February 23 in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
