Joint S. Korea - KSA Nuclear Research Centre

The South Korean Ministry of Science and Technology announced that South Korea is planning to establish a joint nuclear research centre in Saudi Arabia. The centre is expected to lay the foundation for long-term cooperation between the two countries in research and development of advanced nuclear energy technology.

The agreement was concluded at the South Korea-Saudi Arabia nuclear commission meeting that took place in Riyadh in early May. The meeting also discussed the countries’ envisioned cooperation on the System-Integrated Modular Advanced Reactor program (SMART).
